Erta
Casa Erta is an authentically restructured typical Tuscan farmhouse with beamed ceilings and terracotta floors.
Erta is situated on a little hill in the heart of the farm Fattoria Corzano e Paterno, where we produce excellent wines, sheep cheeses and olive oil.
The house is furnished very tastefully and luxuriously, the rooms are big and bright. Sitting on the terrace of Erta you have a spectacular view over the Tuscan hills, olive groves and vineyards.
In the house there are 5 bedrooms with either 2 single beds or 1 double bed each. On the ground floor you find two big living- and sitting room with a fireplace ,one double/twin bedsroom, two bathrooms. The kitchen at Casa Erta is well equipped, with fridge, electric oven with gas stove, dishwasher and microwave oven. On the first floor there are 4 more bedrooms with 2 single beds or 1 double bed each, as well as a living- and sitting room with an open fireplace,two bathrooms. On the terrace there is a veranda for eating outside and a pizza oven (pizza evenings available on request).
Location:
Casa Erta is situated on a 360 acres large farm in the countryside 17 km from Florence, 35 km from Siena and 50 km from Pisa. The local town, San Casciano Val di Pesa, is 5 km away, with supermarkets, speciality shops, cafes and a market held every Monday. There are local grocery shops in S. Cristina or in San Pancrazio, 2 km away. Also nearby are many historical towns such as Certaldo, San Gimignano, Volterra, or for a day trip you can visit Lucca, Arezzo, Bologna, Verona or Rome and the coast is about one and a half hours drive away.
Transport:
If not with own vehicle, it is recommended that guest hire a car to explore the countryside. Hire car companies operate out of Florence and Pisa. However, public transport is available but the closest bus stop is at the bottom of the hill 3km away, from where buses run regularly to San Casciano, Florence or Siena. Taxi minibus (7 persons) operate from the local town Tavarnelle.
Provisions:
There is an excellent supermarket in nearby San Casciano which sells a full range of fresh local produce as well as the usual grocery items. A range of excellent wines, olive oil and cheeses produced on the estate are available.
Laundry:
There is a washing machine in one bathroom on the ground floor. A dry cleaner is situated at the main supermarket at San Casciano. Linen and towels are supplied weekly. Final cleaning is included. Extra cleaning and maid service are extra. (10.00 Euro per hour)
Phone/Power:
As mentioned above the kitchen has a mix of gas and electricity. There is central heating for the guests staying in the cooler months, and of course there is the big open fireplace in the kitchen. Electricity is included, central heating is extra. A mobile phone will be available for the guests to rent.
Price 2009; 2520 Euros per week.
